Wet and Dry
Another week that flew by. Can't believe it's already Monday again.
Last Monday, it rained here, and after that, a breeze blew for a while, making last Tuesday super cold. It went from being in the 70s to being about 40 degrees within a day, which was a pretty big shock. It's back to normal and hot and dry again. I don't think I've ever felt like I'm getting sunburned in the middle of November.
We had a baptism this weekend! Her name is Mary and she's 17, although she turns 18 this week. She has truly had a change of heart and had some awesome spiritual experiences, and has a super strong testimony. When she shared her testimony about her conversion, she said she prayed about if this church was true or not, and she just felt a strong, warm, happy feeling in her chest - one that was so strong and made her so happy that she felt like she wanted to jump up and down on her bed with joy. She asked me to confirm her on Sunday, which was also a special experience, even though it was pretty simple with my Spanish.
Received transfers yesterday, and Elder Souza and I are going back to our first area, and Elder Jensen will be getting a new companion, which we are excited and sad about at the same time. Excited that we will be able to have a smaller area to focus on, but sad we won't be able to have the trio together anymore.
It's crazy to see how much my Spanish has improved in 6 weeks. I feel a lot more confident in it now, and it's fun to try and improve it, although a little flustering at times.
Had some fun experiences with people stopping us on the street and trying to get us to talk with a guy who was hooded and carrying a hoe and breaking into houses. We told him we can't put ourselves or other people in dangerous situations, so we kept walking, and started walking a little faster once we saw that they turned and started following us. We decided to try and contact our reference another day.
It has been smelling like smoke every night here, since people are using their wood burning stoves to create heat, so our clothes always smell like smoke at the end of every day.
Saw a German version of Walmart today. Also some pictures of us before and after the baptism, with me looking white as ever. (Mary is the one with hoop earrings)
Love you guys, and always remember that the most important thing is to try and be like Jesus and help and love others in the way that he would love them!
