Sleepy New Year

Spent the new year in our houses early, asleep, since our mission president was a little scared for us since new year's is a little crazy and more dangerous for missionaries.

Spent the beginning of this week taking Elder Souza to the bus station at 5 in the morning, running to the bus station since Elder Souza didn't arrange for us to get a ride, so we basically ran with his suitcases the 2 miles or so to the bus station, but he didn't have all of his things packed up the night before so we ended up missing the bus anyways after we took a wrong turn, so that was really fun. He eventually got on a bus to Juarez and I got my new companion Elder Iturbe from Chiapas, which is the southernmost part of Mexico. We aren't fighting or anything, but he has been really closed off and no matter my efforts he won't open up to me, so that's been really hard for me too, and boring. I think he's really struggling with a lot of personal things, which is hurting him and making it harder to be at 100% as a companionship, which is rough, but I'm really trying to focus on what's best for him while he's struggling with these things right now.

Yesterday we passed by an old contact's house and he was making Carne Asada and baked potatoes with his friends, and they invited us to eat with them, so of course we did and just hung out with them for a while and listened to the Classical Mexican music blasting from their truck, then shared a scripture, set up another appointment, and left. Honestly one of the most cultural things I've done so far on my mission.

Don't have a lot of time to write this week, sorry, but I'll be more thorough next week!

Love you guys and keep loving your neighbor and helping everyone!
