Semana 2
Week 2 here at the CCM has been great! The weather here is honestly awesome. It still is so cool to me to see bright green parrots flying around here, and just to have palm trees all over the place. Also the grass here is super squishy, like a sponge almost. Kinda cool
Some crazy things that happened this week:
-A giant moth flew into our house one morning when we opened the door, and it was still there that night when we got back, and my companion Elder Roberts ate it on a dare and for 220 pesos (about $11).
-One of the Elders in my room rolled his ankle and it looked pretty gnarly.
I attached some pictures of me and my companion. I literally asked like 3 different missionaries to take a picture, but for some reason, only one picture was taken, and it was when BOTH of our eyes were closed, which was pretty funny, so that's the only picture I have so far of just the two of us. Also there's a picture of our entire district that we took this morning.
Another interesting tidbit, the higher the houses go on the hill, the poorer people are, because I guess the water pressure gets a lot worse the higher you go on the hills. Also some of the houses are different colors because different political parties would give people different colored paint if they would vote for their respective political campaign. I thought that was pretty cool.
There was a pretty crazy thunderstorm yesterday with really loud thunder and it rained quite a bit.
We have been having a lot of fun with our teachers here (we have one in the morning and one in the afternoon), teaching them English slang, and it's really funny to hear them say it in their accent and talk about how most of the slang terms that we have don't make any sense (like "weird flex, but okay" and "alright, bet").
My Spanish is improving every day! I am really so grateful that I did a year of school before I came here, to learn how to study well, get used to being away from home, and just learn more and be more comfortable and confident in myself.
I'm really excited to be here, but I'm more excited to actually get to Ciudad Juarez and start sharing the gospel that has brought so much solace and peace to my life, and I'm hoping that I'll be able to find some people that will be able to benefit from the gospel like I have. I've felt the Spirit and the love that Heavenly Father has for us every day that I've been here (even though they can be pretty strict with rules), and I can't wait to share that with some of the people of Juarez as well. I love this church!
Love all you guys, and thanks for all the support!
-Elder Peters
