First Week at the CCM!

What's up guys!

My preparation day (when I'll usually be able to send emails) is going to be on Thursday for the next 5 weeks I'm in the MTC, then when I get to Juarez it will probably change as well.

But the Missionary Training Center (MTC) here is really cool! We flew into Mexico City on Tuesday with a bunch of other missionaries who were on the same flight from SLC to Mex. City and it was really cool. Mexico City is huge. When we saw it from above there were apartment buildings for as far as we could see, and that was from the air. The MTC here is really pretty too. It used to be a high school and the grounds are really well kept. I forgot to bring my camera to the computer lab today but I'll attach some pictures next week. It's weird to just see bright green and bright orange birds just flying around. We also hear the occasional "firework" explode at night (at least that's what I'm going to tell myself it is) but we feel really safe. There's like 13 foot high barbed wire fences surrounding the whole facility.

The first couple days here were pretty long and drawn out becuase we were just doing a lot of paperwork and things, but the days now actually go by pretty quick. We wake up at 6 30 each morning and go to bed at 10 30 each night (I can't find the semicolon on these Spanish keyboards haha), and most of the day consists of classes with our teacher on gospel topics, how to contact and teach people who want to take the missionary lessons, and learning Spanish. I had 4 years of Spanish experience in high school, and a lot of my roommates and coworkers spoke Spanish, so I feel pretty comfortable with it, although I'm still learning a lot.

We are put into districs, which consist of 12 missionaries (although ours only has 10) and we have our class together and have all the same schedules, so we hang out quite a bit and spend a lot of time with each other, but they're all cool and fun so there's no complaints there. My companion is Elder Roberts from Layton, UT, and he's a good companion. No complaints about him or my district.

I'm loving the time here, and I'm coming closer to the Savior every day!

I'll try and keep these short for the most part, but this week was kinda crazy, so sorry if it was too long haha. Also, these computers are all set up in Spanish, so spell check doesn't really work, so sorry in advance for any typos, and I'll have pictures next week.

Until Thursday!

-Elder Peters
